The UK renewable energy industry is growing rapidly amidst rising concerns about oil depletion and climate change. Renewable energy is seen by many as part of the appropriate response to these concerns and programs have been put in place to support the wider use of sustainable energy systems. This has led to a rapid increase in demand for renewable energy specialists who are able to install and maintain such systems. There is therefore an urgent need to develop and implement new courses that prepare engineers to conduct this work.
Extra funds have been allocated to government grants under the Low Carbon Buildings Programme for the installation of renewable and microgeneration project. This coupled with an increased focus on the requirement to be environmentally responsible, and introduction of the Feed in Tariff payments in April 2010, the installation market is growing at an unprecedented rate. The solar hot water installation market alone grew by nearly 90% last year according to the Heating and Hot Water Industry Council.
The good news is that you do not have to retrain, as many of the skills and qualifications you already have are directly relevant to installing renewable energy and microgeneration systems. All you need is a short course of typically
2 -3 days to top-up your existing knowledge and experience.
Starting from scratch with no need for large amounts of capital, a significant amount of income could be created in a short space of time resulting in a very lucrative and exciting career in the renewable industry.
To meet these challenges Learning Academy (UK) Ltd are offering a range of renewable courses in partnership with the team of a company which created the UK’s first independent training centre dedicated to renewable and low carbon technology training for installers. You will get to work with a range of equipment from many different manufacturers so you can offer a truly varied range of solutions for your customers. Click HERE for more details.
Introduction to Renewable Technologies
The purpose of this 1-day course is to give an introduction to renewable technologies to enable you to have a better understanding of how they work,
and how they can assist in meeting targets for energy efficient buildings.
The course content is specifically designed to impart an understanding of
the various technologies without being overly technical.
BPEC Renewable Energy Awareness
This 2-day course is designed to provide individuals with a base level of knowledge in the principles of knowledge in the principles and capabilities of various renewable energy products and systems. The course is aimed at anyone who wishes to have a better understanding of renewable energy systems. This is not an installer’s course , but serves as an introduction to the green energy and environmental technologies involved.
Installing Domestic Wind Turbines Intermediate Course
A 3-day course on the installation of domestic wind turbines. This course is for anyone that already has electrical experience equivalent to Domestic Installer Course. This area of business is going to see massive growth over the coming months. The course provides the knowledge on how to install wind turbines and focuses on both small building mounted systems and larger free-standing turbines. Candidates will be given clear information on how to site for optimal performance and to ensure that customers are not misguided on the expected power generation. The course will give the confidence to select, install and maintain different systems to best meet the customer’s needs.
Installing Solar Thermal Heating Systems
The 2-day course provides the knowledge on how to install a solar domestic hot water system and takes into consideration the majority of systems installed in the UK investigating the different system configurations, components and operating characteristics. The course targets aspects which are particular to solar domestic hot water systems giving operatives the confidence to select, install and maintain systems.
Installing Solar PV Systems
The 3-day course provides the knowledge on how to install a solar PV system and takes into consideration the majority of systems installed in the UK, investigating the different system configurations, components and operating characteristics.
The course targets aspects which are particular to solar PV systems giving operatives the confidence to select, install and maintain systems. Solar PV is serious business and it is here to stay. There is funding available for customers who get a solar PV installed. In addition in April 2010 customers will be able to claim Feed in Tariff payments for every unit of electricity that they generate.
Ground & Air Source Heat Pumps
The 3-day course provides the knowledge on how to propose, survey, design
and install a Ground-Source & Air-Source installations
Note: If you intend to design the ground loop for Ground-Source pumps you will also need the design course
